I have a pre-94 cali legal registered. FAL So I can make any evil changes I want ,except for FA and SBR. I dont know exactly what I have and what parts work with it? my guns marking: L1A1 SPORTER CAI-ST. ALB VA SERIAL#104XXX MADE IN CANADA BOLT MARKING: UEA 9043* I would like to change the lower to a para stock and shorten the barrel and add a noveske Krinkov. Thanks |
| If it's post-89 you still have to contend with the import ban restrictions. Is it a thumbhole stock now? If you are not changing the configuration of the rifle and are only adding US made parts you should be ok, otherwise it starts to get complicated. If it's a post-89 neutered import, the only way you can add a FS and folding stock is to add enough US made parts (7 IIRC for a FAL). Pics might be good. |

It's a Century International Arms L1A1, an inch pattern FAL that probably uses metric mags. Probably gray synthetic thumbhole stock furniture, no muzzle device. I used to have one of those. In order to do anything more with it, you'll need to get US made parts to comply with 922r. Typically on a thumbhole conversion these parts are: Trigger Hammer Sear pistolgrip butstock muzzle device Pretty much everything you wanted to do to it anyway, right? |

Yes, but you'll have to get a new front sight tower because that sight is higher than the factory FAL sight. Why do you want to replace the lower? If I were going to replace the lower I'd go with this: FAL Para/AR15 Hybrid lower This thing is going to be a para lower that can take pretty much any stock or pistol grip you want, AR, ACE, Magpul, whatever; it uses the detachable AR sight that lines up properly, AND it uses AR15 fire control parts. |
