| I know that the M14 30's are complete trash, but what about the FAL 30 rounders? Are any of these functional? If so, what make? |
The straight ones are usually authentic SA mags, Bought 15 or so from a fellow on FALfiles. they work great, Fugly as hell painted in SA crap paint just had them redone. Asked about more he told me about a friend whose got 10 or so left, they are however not cheap
If interested I can shoot you his info |
besides the straight metric 30s, there are also L4A1 BREN mags which are easier to find, and not by much but usually cheaper.![]() ![]() they go right into inch rifles, fit metrics with a mod to the "beak". DSA sells the L4A1 modded or not. except for some welded-together 20 rounder types, i don't think there were any aftermarket 30s to avoid. could well be wrong on that but i've never seen any. i've heard some say the BREN mags' function is suspect, having been designed as gravity feeders, all i know is the one i have has plenty-o-spring pressure and worked fine the maybe 10 times i've loaded & emptied it. so too did my one straight metric mag. cool looking. heavy (my BREN=13.5oz straight metric=12.5oz empty as compared to a steel 20 @8.25oz or 20 round alloy at a feathery 3.75oz ). expensive (relative to 20 rounders but not so bad compared to M14 mags etc). nice to have in 'the collection' tho IMO. |
Just because the 30 rounders are of the straight design don't assume they are authentic military issue. I have seen POS 30 rounders that were made in the USA and they were straight too. |
Dude I never ASS_U_ME anything. Have a great connection with real deal equipment. These were imported awhile ago with the SA paint all over them. Used not abused, he handpicked the best of the best and sold them quite well not one complaint. Had a friend ask me to get him some and in turn told me about the ones I stated in previous post. I seiously doubt that a company would put that FUGLY SA paint on mags to sell them. And because you purchased POS 30 rd mags do not ASSUME that I would buy the same let alone pass on the info to anyone else. ![]() I Fart in your general direction
|
You may not have intended to pass along bad info but your original msg was vauge at best. You said straight mags were SA, not some straight mags were SA. I was just making sure someone who wasn't as smart as you didn't make a mistake and buy crap. Newbies.

| I've owned many SA 30 rounders and once the spring gets extremely worn the follower will tilt and cause a malfunction. That said SA 30 rdrs are becomming rare, use to buy them for $20, now they're double that. A SA mag with a good spring is an excellent mag to have and when I can find a deal I do buy them. |
