Huge +1 for Rich at CGW his work is perfection incarnate.

Mark at ARS has a great reputation and seem like a really nice guy when I spoke to him a few days ago.

Derek at Azec arms also has a good rep.

Only actually done business with Rich and own some of his work so YMMV with the others.

I've had FAL work done by AZEX, ARS, and CGW.  All three are good.  I think CGW is currently running about the fastest for turn-around.  Might want to double check by giving him a call.

Court Swett - FL does all my FAL work.  Top notch like the other gentleman listed on this post.  I believe Magnum Gunsmithing in OH does a great job as well on fals (Haven't used them for a fal, but they built me one mean TANTAL AK last month).

Ditto, could be as simple as you having the gas system turned off, or as complex as gas rod being bent or too small causing too much gas blow-by. And, if the barrel was shortened, then you may just need to open up the barrel's gas port (accessed by just pulling the front sight post).

If you are having problems with the FCG (read the hammer is not resetting, really just following the carrier back forward), then the FCG is trash, and replacing the hammer/sear/selector to a known working unit will resolve the problem.

Chances are if you just tell us what the rifle is doing wrong, then we can advice you on the solution, which could be cheaper that the shipping costs to a smith alone.

Incorrect...

Sledgehammer is Randy with Sledgehammer Arms Works in Mansfield, Texas. Anyone over on FALfiles will vouch for him as he has built hundreds of FALs including my StG58, as well as done work on CETMEs and other arms for me..He's a very reliable gunsmith and will shoot straight with you.
