Hey, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this peice of equiptment.

I am picking up an ORF FAL carbine and would like to add some accessories to the rifle.  I figure, instead of purchasing a DSA scope mount reciever cover, I would simply purchase their RAS, mount my red dot there, and add a vertical foregrip and possibly a surefire.

I however do not know if the RIS is sturdy enough to allow mounting optics.  Does it have some sort of locking mechanism like the KAC M4 RAS?

Thanks,
Scott

I bought a mount from tapco and mounted on my ORF carbine and dont have any problems what so ever.

I tried a while back, ran a search and didnt turn anything up...so i figured I would ask here.

I have a tapco mount, the only problem is that the metal is very soft and spent shell casings have turned it into a pretty ugly dented peice.

DSA sells a modified version of their scope mount which allows a relatively low mounting of an ACOG.
While expensive, so is the RIS.  And the ACOG is a far better sight for a carbine than any red dot I can think of.  With DSA's composite handguards, there is no pressing need for a forward vertical handgrip, IMHO.
A short section of Pic rail can be bolted to the handguard, and the Surefire attached there via a Fobus detachable Surefire mount.
Just a suggestion.

Eh, I like my red dots.  ACOG's are a bit out of my college student budget, and I already have the red-dot I would like to mount.

I understand.  Like I said, just a suggestion.
