Mike, at Darnells Gun Works, in Illinois built a 7.62X39 version of a FAL. It used AK mags. He had it on display at KCR 2 or 3 times. It was a good rig, he sold it this fall. Made more sense to me than a .223 version.

He wanted a less effective cartridge and more expensive magazines?

I guess it was done because it could be done. The 7.62 x 39 cartridge isn't the .308, AK magazines run a bit more then the $4-$5 metric FAL ones around here.

I hear ya' Paul.  It sounds like another answer in search of a question.

Wasn't the FAL first chambered in 7.92x33 Kurz, then to the 7.62x51?
