Now I need to bring my dual switch idea to life somehow. Maybe it's time to buy a 3D printer  The Rovyvon switch is actually very nice and has raised humps and is made of metal - but for me the problem is the functionality differences between the GL4 Pro and GL5 from a training standpoint as they have different button functionality. And shoutout to @D_man once again, as you can see in the above pics I'm using another one of his Rovyvon button covers. |
I finally got my GL5 Pro yesterday, for the money it's pretty dang nice. Now I just need to save up for better night vision than my Sionyx Aurora  Only complaint is that the on/off/momentary switch is really stiff but I figure that's a break in thing. That and the red glow when the IR illuminator is on. I can always tape over the green "IR ON" led at least. |

Apparently there is also the GL5 Pro XL that has a higher output on both lasers and illuminator but $200 higher MSRP 400 lumens of cool white light with 1.5 hours of runtime 300mW LED-based IR illuminator, 850nm wavelength, 1.5 hours of runtime 520nm visible green laser (<5mW, Class 3R) 850nm IR laser (<0.7mW, Class I) Powered by 1x CR123 or 1x 16340 Li-ion battery IPX8 waterproof rating Vs 400 lumens of cool white light with 1.5 hours of runtime 600mW LED-based IR illuminator, 850nm wavelength, 1.5 hours of runtime Slaved dual-beam aiming lasers 520nm visible green laser (<10mW) 850nm IR laser (<10mW) Powered by 1x CR123 or 1x 16340 Li-ion battery IPX8 waterproof rating

Unless you're one of those 1% of guys who owns really nice NV and does actual night shoots frequently these are small, light-weight, and will work for most any scenario they are needed for. And when you get them on sale like this, double. I remember getting my GL5 non-pro models for $120 earlier this year. |

Has anyone noticed a difference in performance when using a 16350 vs a CR123 in the GL5/4 Pro units? Intensity or just run time if so? I bought a 2-pack of 850mah Streamlight SL-B9 rechargeable batteries and they work great with the plus of being reusable (and also work with my TLR HLX). Nitecore also makes a 950mah 16350 that can be had for like $9-10 with a little extra juice in it. |

Pretty much nails it...control issues like the small switch on the side and pistol-light-esque toggles. But also: Surefire RSR line of switches which have like zero support (should use something else like CRANE, which they have a model for now) No adjustable beam pattern which a lot of NVG nerds want More throw and less flood in the IR as the Rovyvon units always test bad past 150yds Weird QD system on since they were released (now has a crossbolt version and a new rev2 QD but still meh) With all those said, these are still excellent little units and as I've said before will service 95% of light/laser users and NV users alike. All of these issues stem from Rovyvon's being Surefire XVL clones. Hopefully they can evolve out of the bad design features Surefire released in the XVL and keep the small form factors. |

No time on a MAWL personally but: country of origin, form factor, illuminator power and focus-ability, almost certainly more durable, better at retaining zero, etc. Definitely important factors if your life depends on it, but obviously not necessary for a fun range gun or even for a light duty HD gun. |
