| How in the hell do I get the gas plug off my rifle? I've tried using two wrenches, one acting as a brace and the latter on the gas plug to break the torque. Jesus christ did SA use a gorilla to put the rifle together? The gas plug is way too fucking tight. |

I have the same issue on my M1 Garand. Can't get the gas plug off.
Any suggestions? Am I going to damage the front sight assembly if I have to use disel truck levels of torque? And to be 100%, as the rifle is pointed at you, you turn it to the left, correct, to remove? Thanks, |

Clockwise tightens it up and counter clockwise loosens it.
Never had an issue with one not coming out when I wanted it to, or staying put when I wanted it to. I do (always) wipe the gas plug/threads off with the same oily rag I wipe the other gun parts down with. On the M1 Garand you can use a 1/4" drive ratchet, or extension on a ratchet to remove/install the later plugs. The square end of the ratchet/extension fits the end of the gas plug just about perfect. |
