Hello everyone.  Just wondered if anyone could give me a ballpark figure on the value of a used M14 bolt.  I was cleaning out the bottom of the storage locker, and I came across a used, nickel plated, TRW bolt from a rifle I sold 3 years ago.  I'd like someone else to get some use out of it and might try to get rid of it at the next gunshow or on the EE.  Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Normally $300 and up.  I have no idea what nickel plating will do to the price.  TRW is currently the "cool" brand to have tho there's no real reason for it.

Thanks for the response.  I never could understand why it was plated as well.  I don't know if it was for looks or what.  I just bought it as a spare after the original bolt self-disassembled during a range session.

Since it is plated it kills the value. I doubt you could get $100 for it

Yeah, I can see the plating negatively affecting the value, but I'm not sure by how much.

At Perry, Fulton was asking $200 for new production stripped bolts and $300 for complete units.

Not sure what to tell you about where to price this.

Interesting.  Other than aesthetics, does the plating negatively affect performance?  I always wondered why the current values I saw were so much more than what I paid for the bolt.  I always assumed it was inflation, because I bought the thing back in 1996.

If in spec it should function fine.
I dont know who would want a nickle or chrome plated bolt, I suppose if someone had a complete plateded M1A
