I went to search, couldn't find anything.
I made the mistake of letting a supposed GI ex-armorer work on my Polytech M1A1 trigger years ago. It's been getting sloppier and sloppier since. I've been told a GI trigger assembly will fit. Does anyone know from experience? Seems like the best thing I could do is replace the whole Polytech trigger assembly for a GI unit. Any advice? Thanks, Mike |

Thanks, Mike Mike, GI trigger groups fit as they should. Maybe you could send what you have to SEI and have them perform their MAX-PAK upgrade on it. I've done this with two Poly Tech trigger groups and they feel & perform just like my TRW groups with MAX-PAK do, I can't detect any difference except that I have more money left over. |

What is sloppy? Do you still have the chicom wood? May not be the trigger assy.. and for the record... M1 garand hammer, trigger, spring, plunger, and spring housing will fit. I have them in mine poly... I agree. Replace the funky Chinese stock with a USGI stock. If that doesn't cure the problem, replace the trigger, hammer, trigger pin, and hammer pin with USGI parts. M14 or Garand. |

It's still in it's chicom wood, glass bedded. With the rare wooden handguard . Great shooter. Sounds sweet; pictures? Over the years I've come across maybe two Chinese M14 stocks that had a fit & finish that didn't meet my standards, but I've also found several Chu wood stocks that are excellent. I stashed the nicest examples away for a rainy day. |

Thanks, Mike An M1A1 is a folding stock M1 Carbine. An M1A is an M14 clone made by SAI. My Polytech is marked "M14S". |

I would replace the hammer and trigger with USGI. Garand triggers hammer are a direct drop in. I would also replace the trigger and hammer pins. If that does not cure the problem, I would look into replacing the stock with a USGI stock.
Poly hammers and triggers can be soft, and if the armorer stoned them, he could have gone through the hardening into the softer metal. Even if they are already USGI, he could have screwed them up, so just replace them. They aren't expensive or hard to replace. For what its worth, I have 3 Polys and have replaced these parts on my 3. I need to replace the pins though. At the time I did the work, I didn't know the pins could be soft too. |

There is a parts vendor here in Texas "Lone Star Armament" I think it's called that are always at the funshows. I'll get them to point me in the right directions. Funny thing, when I was in basic in '69, I trained on the M14! I never could figure out the trigger assembly! |
