got a sling for my M1 Garand today. i rigged it up like in pics that i have seen, but this just doesn't feel right. there is no way I can put my arm thru it to sling it over my shoulder. why is it depicted this way so many times... am i just dense and the sling isn't used for slinging over your shoulder?
or am i just doing it wrong altogether?

Somebody will probably be along to tell me I'm doing it wrong but I've always used Mink Oil on mine. I have a couple leather slings that are over 30 years old.
