I apologize as I know this has been discussed before.  I went back through threads and searched but couldn't find it.

What are the recommended scope mounts?  and in what order would you recommend them?  I know I hear Bassett, Sadlak, Smith, and ARMS 18.  Is the Fulton Armory mount any good?
I have a Leatherwood scope that I want to mount on my Loaded M1A.

What stock do you have on the rifle?  If you have a SA, Inc. factory stock, do you intend to replace it with a Sage stock?  Are you trying to create the XM21 look?  Do you want a mount that you can take off and put back on repeatedly?  What's your budget?  Do you want a lighter weight mount or something atomic proof?  Will you install it yourself or have a M14 gunsmith do it?  What are the first three digits of the serial number of your SA, Inc. receiver?  What is the intended application of the rifle?  Plinker, SHTF/TEOTWAKI, hunting?  Will you possibly use an ACOG or dot sight on the rifle?  What is the diameter of the scope objective lens?  If using a traditional design stock, do you realize you will likely need a cheek rest?  What type of cheek rest do you prefer, hard plastic or fabric?  Do you want to retain use of the butt stock storage compartment?

And I bet you thought it would be simple. I have a SA fat stock  Walnut. I use a Sadlak steel mount. And use a 1 3/4 inch fabric cheek riser. Which still allows access to the buttstock storage. I use 1 inch steel rings and a Leupold 3 x 9 mildot with M3 knobs.
