Just picked up a SA Socom II with the normal rails not the extended rail model... I have been looking around online for hours but can't find what I beleave to be the best so I thought I would ask the best! I woul like to install an optic that has some kind of magnification or even an aimpoint micro would be fine if its not possible without having to install a cheek rest and allow the use of the iron sights. Is this possible? If it is possible what king of mounts and opticts do I have to choose from that will allow this?

An alternatiive solution is to put a fabric cheek rest on the stock so you can use a dot sight on the Vltor rail. If it helps any, a fabric cheek rest will run $40 to $50 as compared to $199.00 MSRP for the Ultimak M8 mount. |

I'm pretty sure you'll be too high with the vltor rail. The T-1 is barely low enough on the ultimak rail....I think the irons on mine sit at about the lower 1/3 or so in the aimpoint. |

The Vltor CAS-14 rail attaches to the receiver scope mount bolt hole, yes? The receiver scope mount bolt hole is a point of attachment for the GDI scope mount as well. |
| Sorry for having my head up my butt...... That was a stupid question. Anyone know where I can get an extended vltor socom II rail without having to send my m1 back to s-a? They want $550 bucks to swap out the top rail and thats not even the shipping! That is crazy! I looked in the EE and did a google search but came up w/ nothing... OR would anyone want to trade and extended for the regular length??? |
