First I know its on the expensive side but is it.
Worth that 2000 dollar price tag?

I know its a 308 and all, but what kind of accuracy and range can
I expect out of the 16.25 in barrel?

Is the muzzle device removeable?

Overall how is the gun would u guys that own it recomend it?

Thanks guys

I can't speak for the SOCOM II but take a look at the Scout... 18" barrel so it's a nice compromise between the SOCOM and full size. I love my Scout.

Had one, sold it.

I too would suggest looking into the 18 inch barrelled M1As.  Also if you shop around you should be able to find used SOCOM's a good bit cheaper then 2k.  I think I sold mine (with the quad rail) for $1600.

Was looking into it as well. Looks really damn nice, but probably heavy as hell with all those rails. Didnt really need em, so went with the scout.

Weighs a ton.  Useless rail.  Front heavy.  Nothing more appealing than the scout.

I'm afraid I can't agree with the majority opinion here thus far. I'd have to rank it as the best handling .308 I've had the pleasure to work with and I have or had most of the usual suspects by which to compare. The weapon is simply awesome. Recoil and follow up shots phenominal. Weight is light for a weapon chambered in this round. Now I did remove the rail system and add a Vtor M-14 Modstock to it. I say skip the rails and get the SOCOM 16. Spend the $'s saved on a nice receiver mounted optics rail etc.

^^ what he says skip the CRS and go with the socom 16.  I have an extended rail deuce and love the cool factor but it is a bit heavy.  My .02 would be like basically everyone else who posted here, go with the Scout if you're not set on a 16" bbl.  18" would be more accurate, but I believe the SOCOM sights play a big part in it's accuracy.  I am going to change mine out for Scout sights eventually.

Here's an idea of accuracy (keep in mind factory cqb sights), 100 yds, with just some commercial ammo.  And I have trigger job, NM spring guide, Sadlak piston, etc a few basic mods

The one group ain't bad though!  Really trying my damndest with factory sights before giving up..  want that Vltor stock too, Sage too pricey for me

Yeah Socom accuracy is going to suck because it has a front sight that is the same thickness as three regular front sights.

Thanks guys after doing more research I think the Socom 16 fits me better.
The main reason I liked the Socom was the 16.25in barrel.

can someone send me a link of where to get that extended top rail??

Here's a good place to start: desert warrior

I've had good luck with the Ultimak and MI parts.

Socom 16 or Scout, I prefer my Scout.  The added rails for the Socom II are not as necessary as everyone seems to think they are.  The trade off in weight for the rails is way too much in my opinion.

All you need really is a receiver mounted system. Go Sadlak(several mount options/prices) or the tried and true ARMS 18. Also I can't recommend the Vltor M-14 ModStock enough. If you can find one that is.

Can't agree more. The weight reduction of losing the front weight is way more important.
