I finally got this thing to the point that I don't hate it anymore. I'm pretty happy with this first group after getting the scope mounted up and sighted in. 10 shot group is a little less thatn 2.1".

100 yards
seated bench
bag front rest
no rear rest (shouldered)
60 degrees
< 5mph wind
SA M1A Scout
Sage EBR
Elite 4200 1.25-4 (set for 4)

The group is a couple of inches high at 100 yards. I had just zeroed the rifle at 50 yards. The ammo is the AE 168 gr BTHP M1A stuff.

It's not a bad group at all and a nice Scout. You might try different brands and grain rounds though. In my experience rifles tend to pick which ammo they like. Just because Federal made and marketed ammo for the M1A, doesn't mean it's going to be the best your rifle will shoot. Mine in particular with it's usgi 1 in 12, 4 groove barrel tends to shoot straight Winchester 150 grain FMJ better than lots of high quality NATO 7.62x51mm, though the Lithuanian stuff was real close.

X5 on trying other ammo.  With practice and the right ammo, you should be able to shave 1/2" off the group.  Congrats with getting her to shoot well for you.

My scout is probably one of my two favorite rifles.

Nice set up.
