As it standas right now, I have an iron sighted, 12 pound short battle rifle that is capable of match grade accuracy out to 300 meters.

When using optics choose a stock that will allow some form of cheek riser to be added, in my case I am using a Magpul mil-spec CTR on a VLTOR sealed tube which offers three heights of accessory cheek risers.
The drawback?
You must remove the cheek riser to use the iron sights.

I have heard tale mentioned here of SAGE producing a rear block assembly for these chassis that will allow a standard M16 buffer tube and A2 style stock assembly to be fitted.
I have a Magpul PRS stock that just may be the ticket for this rifle but at the cost of compactablity.
What you gain is a solid stock with complete and quick adjustability of length of pull and comb height.
It may be a welcome addition to add one of these rear blocks to my kit of goodies
Speaking of goodies, these stock systems require some special tools and cleaning techniques.
I made this kit up along the way, it works great and I can go into details in a later post.

Here's another thing you need to be aware of, the larger SOCOM Gas Screw I added,,,it requires a 1/2" wrench to remove it, the USGI combination tool or your trusty 3/8" wrench won't do the job.
Final note on optics, the choice is now in.
I will be using a Smith Enterprise ACOG side mount platform paired to a Trijicon TA55A 5.5X scope possibly mounted on a GG&G quick detach platform if it will fit the SEI mount, the saving and overtime have begun,,,

Does the SEI ACOG mount sit lower than their standard mount and...
will the top rail need to be machined to fit the mount as it does with SEI's standard mount?

The platform is supposed to fit on same plane as the top cover and it does not extend over the top cover.
Rather, it extends to the rear to allow a useable eye relief with the Trijicon ACOG scopes which you cannot obtain using tthe standard mount platforms.
There are customer photos that show this arrangement.

Go to the website and check them out.

I had one on my Mod 0, but it's been years and I couldn't recall the details... I never mounted an ACOG.

I do know that it does not have a tunnel for the iron sights and the
instructions  call for removal of the rear sight assembly from the receiver.

I do know that it does not have a tunnel for the iron sights possibly because they are not needed.

Yeah I hav that sorted out with an offset and an RMR dot optic but I need to come up with the $2100 to put the optics platform together and there's that Beretta 92A1 I am wanting,,,,,
This whole plan may be another year before it becomes resolved.

You can do better than a Magpul PRS stock. Get a UBR. The comb height adjustability is a very minor element. The a combat stock the UBR is the way to go.

Understood.

I don't want to add unnecessary weight or further complicate my MK14 SEI CL so I am considering a different path.

I think the new 1.1-8x CQBSS from Leupold on a LaRue LT608 or a SAGE M14DCSB would be ideal.
If the optic takes a shit I can quickly remove the entire mount, rings & optic and rip off the cheek riser to get at my irons.

What did you like/dislike about the SAGE M14DCSB?

Lock-up was solid and true.
Overall platform was too heavy and just generally sucked.
If the GG&G won't fit, I will use,(Please don't hate me), A.R.M.S. throwlever ACOG mount.
