Is the Springfield M1A Gen. 4 scope mount really that bad? I have read some reviews about the screws coming loose but would that problem be fixed with some loctite?

Throw that mount in the trash and get yourself a Bassett mount. One mounting bolt, 1/3 the weight of the SA mount and no big ugly knobs.

Where might I asked did you find a review on the new Gen 4 mount? You probably meant 3rd gen, but I'll bit.
