A while back I posted about how my op-rod jumped the track and damaged my bolt. So I sent it in to the CMP and they promptly fixed the bolt and sent me a replacement op-rod (big +1 to the CMP for taking care of me, great people). So I put everything back together today and it seems like there is a good amount of wiggle between the op-rod tab and the op-rod track on the receiver. My question is there supposed to be some play between the tab and the track? How is it on your guy's M1's? I am kind of worried to shoot it after what happened last time.

A little background on my gun: CMP  Springfield service grade, manf. in March 1945, SA barrel made in March 1945 ( I assume is original barrel) , I have hardly fired it at all, maybe 100-200 rounds. I have heard of the reciever track being worn out, but assuming this is still wearing the original barrel I don't see how the receiver could wear out before the barrel. What do you fellas think?

If you sent the rifle back to CMP for repair, it was checked and is good to go. Shoot it

It is normal to have some  "up and down " wiggle with the Op Rod in the track

Wiggle is OK.  Hey, it needs to travel in the track.  IF it jumps out during firing......that's bad.

So, that being said..........check (for NEW).............

Jim Swartz has sold his buissness and no longer repairs rods.
I doubt your Op Rod is out of spec, especially since its a replacement rod that CMP sent.
