[ARCHIVED THREAD] - M1 Tanker

I'm considering buying an M1 "Tanker" in .308 form a local fellow. I know very little about these, can someone enlighten me on the history, reliablity, price range, etc. on these? I have read that these were made after the war from surplus Garand receivers.

Two main concerns;
1. Make sure the receiver isn't a cut and weld.
2. Make sure it works.

have you thought about a M1A SCOUT ?

I've done some more reading and have decided to pass on the M1 Tanker. I was going to trade one of my ARs for it, but I think I'd rather hold off and get an M1A in the future and keep this AR.
