I had an oppertunity to get some dope for my M1A fri. at range and something odd came up. My 500 yard zero is 2 moa left of my 100, 200, and 300 yard zeros. I kow that the twist on the bullet will cuase it to yaw left or right down range but I was under the impression that it was not noticable till after about 8 or 9 hundred yards. The shooting was done with open sights and not off a bench or bi-pod so the possibility of a loose nut behind the trigger is possible but unlikely as I shot multiple ten round groups to verify the data.

Wind?

Both wind and light effects your windage zero.

The sun to your left or right will give you a difference windage zero compared to different times of the day.

The sun hitting the left or right of your front sight makes you see it differently.

Maybe wind.  Wouldn't be surprised if the aperture insn't tracking exactly straight up and down.

In addition to what Mythbuster posted, mistakes are magnified at greater ranges. It's entirly possible you're doing something that doesn't show up at 200, but does at 500.
