| Is the chamber brush for the M1A and Garand one in the same? |
|
Quoted:
If the chamber brush has the part number 7790463 on it, it's for the M14. If the number is different from that, don't use it on a M14/M1A. I like the longer M60 chamber brush with the through-hole better. It's a tight squeeze to get it into the action, but the threaded holes on the M14 brush body (for the ratchet handle) don't seem to last long. |

Bill Ricca recommends using the M14 chamber brush (part number 7790463) for the M14 type rifle unless it's an emergency. I agree, the ratchet mechanism on the 7790463 chamber brush is not atomic proof. The M14 chamber brush is still available in the surplus market so they remain affordable. Brownells does sell a commercial manufacture M14 chamber brush with the through-hole in the ratchet. Dewey was making this a couple years ago.
