When you order a rifle from the CMP does it come with any paperwork stating what you have paid for it?

The fancy "certificate" was usually mailed AFTER I received the rifle.

Actually, I though it strange that they'd bother to send it at all...........just more work and postage $ for the CMP.

BTW, that was in March '03.  Back then it was $500 for the Springfield, SG grade.

when I got my SA Service Grade it was $250, but took a full year to get to me.  It was a 1944 according to the serial number and has a 44-09 barrel.  At the time I wanted to shoot High Power and had a good 'smith tune it up a bit, the original barrel shoots fine after a recrown, had it refinished in a blackish H&K coating and bedded in a laminated stock. It still shoots amazing at 200 yards with the NM iron sights, and looks like it was built 5 years ago.  Great rifles!  I drove it hard for a couple years then switched to a mousegun.  That M1 leads an easy retired life now, but when I lift it and shoulder it, I get that "can do" feeling.
