I bought a new SOCOM 16 over the weekend. Must have been an impulse purchase, as I am now sitting here asking myself WHY? I know nothing about the M1A/M14 actions etc.

One of my 4000 questions involves choosing which items to pick from the loaded coupon I got with the gun and have 90 days to use.

Which of the following are items you guys think I would/could use?

I don't even kow what a "M1A gadget" is.
Flash Suppressor Tool
Rachet Chamberbrush
M1A Gas Cylinder Disassembly Tool
Flash Suppress Alignment Gauge/Tool
Plastic Rear Sight Cover
Front MuzzleCover

The M1A tool is definitely worth having, IMO.  Chamberbrush also important.  The others are going to depend on just how much you plan on taking it apart and messing with stuff.

You can find most if not all the same items for less elsewhere

Well you should have a gas cylinder wrench......and there are now two sizes of gas cylinders now, the GI size and the SAInc. cast gas cylinder size.  I found out after SAInc. swapped gas cylinders on me and my wrench no longer fit.  So make sure you know what you have before buying.  Chances are on a new gun you have the wider cast SAInc. gas cylinder.  I'm betting the SAInc. one ought to fit and Sadlak makes one for the GI and another for the SAInc.

Using one will protect your barrel splines from damage as you torque.  Loose splines equal loose groups.

you NEED a chamber brush
you should have the gas cyl wrench
you should have a bore guide to fit the muzzle device, i use a dewey, someguys just use a shotshell with the primer knocked out to guide the cleaning rod.

Stupid question, but what exactly are the barrel splines, and how does one damage them?
