can the Muzzle Brake on a Socom be changed?  I dont like the idea of a comp/brake on a weapon I may use inside a house for defense. my hearing is bad enough already.
So can i put a different style brake on it or what?
Thanks,
Jim

Yes.... well.... inside the house with any kind of brake or compensator I can imagine or know of... this things gonna be loud! I don't know anything but a Silencer would be much improvement. However I doubt this is specific to the SOCOM either. They all loud!

As of awhle back, Arizona Response Systems (gunplumber) was modifying the factory part with a short flash hider in place of the comp.
There are gunsmiths capable of working on the '14 besides SEI, despite what some would lead you to believe around here

If I remember correctly, the design of the brake increases the pressure in the gas system to ensure reliable function from the shorter barrel.
