I bought a Springfield Inc (the new kind) M1a at a gunshow a few months back, for a decent price. While cleaning it today, and applying some Linseed Oil to the dry original stock, I noticed the front sight is stamped NM 062 What does that mean? Is it a NM sight? Could it be a NM rifle instead of standard one? What other differences are there between their standard ones and their NM ones? |
Not sure. How could I tell from my rifle what it is? |
You can always email [email protected] and send her your SN. She will send you an email telling you the born on date and nomenclature of the rifle as it left the factory.

The M14 type rifle has three sizes of front sights and three sizes of rear sights available. Front sights are classified by the blade width. The standard or GI front sight is .084" wide, the two NM sizes are, .072" and .062" wide. The rear sights are a standard (GI size) and two NM sizes, .0520" and .0595". FWIW.... |
Interesting. I just found the box, and it has "STD M1A Rfile" on it. Along with my S/N# |
