Yes, it's the brake making the rifle sound louder (redirecting bast back at the shooter) and a standard FS will work to solve/replace the brake. As for ordering a NM flash hider, save a few dollars and just order a standard SA inc. brake instead (it's already NM reamed). |

Yup, as you've discovered muzzle brakes can be obnoxiously loud. You wouldn't be the first to take that device off your rifle for that reason. The SEI coast guard brake is supposed to be a bit better on the noise. I ended up getting a SEI vortex. cuts muzzle flash w/o the hearing damage. The only downside is my cleaning rod guide doesn't fit it. You can also watch the EE for someone selling off their springfield inc. GI clone w/o the bayo lug. It's already reamed and you don't want the lug due to gas plug removal interference. Anywhere from $35 on up for that. BTW brownell's sells a SA Inc NM flash hider and a regular flashider for not much more than that. HTH |
