Whats the going rate for an early IHC garand, postage stamp type lettering.  All correct and all original down to the gas plug and trigger.  Stock is very good with correct numbering and cartouche and such.  About 90% finish.  Only bad is throat wear is 4 and muzzle wear is about 4.5.
What's a fair price to pay?

$650 to $800. With a good barrel it would easily be worth $900 to $1200 around these here parts.

It really depends. IMO, I think that it could easily fetch more than $650-$800. I would venture to guess $1,000 - $1,100. IHCs are becoming increasingly more collectible. Being that it is all correct, it is going to command a bit more of a premium despite the throat and muzzle measurements.

What type of postage stamp is it? There are a couple of variations because IHC needed a bit of help from other manufacturers. I bought a postage stamp from Scott Duff aprroximately 2.5 years ago for $900. One thing is for sure. IHCs are only going to go up in price.

I hope you're joking because I went ahead and bought it and I paid a tad bit more

I bought an early 4.4 all original with a te of 3 and me of 2. I gave $1400 and felt like I got a deal.

I would spend that on kingfish's rifle ven with that te and me. I don't shoot mine much and when I do it is not for accuracy.

As always it boils down to whatever someone is willing to pay. Some of my purchase decisions have made me look like a genious down the road, ... and some didn't.

Good to know Tom, thanks.  This one is a 4.5 with a beautiful stock.
