Ok, So here's the shituation. I want another Garand...I mean I already have two, but you have to have them in multiples of three to use the stacking swivels, right? Unfortunately I was too slow and the CMP is out. I also have a soft spot for HRA's (my other two are HRA's, one a SG USGI, the other a Greek "racker"...that happens to be in way better shape than my SG). So, I have some choices. I could... Pay a premium for a CMP HRA (around $1100-$1300) Spend about the same, and get a "Military Grade" from Orion 7 www.m1garandrifle.com/Garandrifles.htm for $1349 Or spend less and get a 'Premium Grade' from "The Garand Guy" for $895 garandguy.com/issuegrade.htm Or spend a little more and get a 'Super Premium Grade' from "The Garand Guy" with a Chorme Lined Criterion barrel for $1150. garandguy.com/issuegrade.htm Now, I'm not positive, but I ASSume that the non-CMP "parts" guns will NOT appreciate like the CMP ones correct? Mainly I want a nice rifle that shoots really well. What would y'all do? Did I mention I love HRA's? Rich |

None of the above. For that kind of money I would just hit the shows and look for a decent Springfield. Or two. Since you already have two HRA's I don't see anything to be gained by another one. So scrap the CMP option. And if you're going to spend that kind of money on a Garand get a "real" one, not some commercial refinished job. May just want to sit tight for a few months and see what CMP comes up with. I firmly believe they have more in the pipeline. |
