Well as long as we're fixing Garand problems... Mine tends to not grab the top round in the clip, just rides over it and doesn't close the bolt completely. The other problem is that every once in a blue moon, the oprod comes back to the full open position and pops out of its groove... Sorry for the Hijack...

DesignatedMarksman, The first thing I would check for FTF is how well all the slide and pivot points in the feed assembly are lubed. Also check the length of the op-rod spring. I believe that 19in is the minimum in the GI specs. The tab on the op-rod may be worn enough to cause it to leave the track. It could also be the track is too worn. Do you have another Garand you could borrow the op-rod from to see if there is a difference? |
normal and a good thing... just give the oprod handle a little smack with the heel of your hand and you're in business. |
Get a timing block or borrow one and check the timing. |
