I recently got a SG Garand from the CMP, and have a couple of questions: First, I accidentally let my finger slip off the oprod handle once, letting the action slam shut without a round in it. Did this damage the weapon? Second, it it okay to dry fire a Garand? Thanks |

First, no, it doesn't harm the rifle to let the bolt go on an empty chamber. Second, a lot of dryfiring could break the firing pin. If you're gonna dry fire a lot, or shoot your rifle a lot, hell, even if you don't, keep a couple spare firing pins on hand. They do break from time to time. |
eh, once or twice. if the worst thing that's happened to your garand in its life has been some empty chamber closings and dry firings you most likely have a collector grade rifle on your hands. The vast majority of garands were WELL USED
