I'm finally getting around to rebuilding my Garand. It was an import (Excel Arms) I picked up dirt cheap in the 80s. It was in pretty good shape, except for the barrel. I checked the SN and it was made in August 1943 at SA. I need a new trigger guard as the locking nubs on the present one are pretty worn. My question is what is the correct guard for this manufacture date? Stamped or milled? Thanks! |
For a '43 M1 rifle...... definitely a milled TG. Question: Are you planning to bed the action?? If so, you can simply tension the bedding to work with the TG you have regardless of the wear on the locking lugs. Best regards, Swampy Garands forever |

Thanks Swampy!! I will get a milled on order. I'm not too sure about bedding, the TG I've got is pretty bad. I would rather replace it with the correct one and then take it from there. BTW - Near as I can figure, this rifle was arsenal rebuilt in 1952 (date on present barrel) |
