I have to wait for my Fulton M14 another 2-6 months and my Fulton carbine another 4-6 months.  I have 12K of .308 & 20 mags from 44mag and couldn't wait any longer.  I will still keep the one I ordered from Fulton when it comes in and keep it for my son to use.   Range report next week. www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=64067485

The rifle is worthless without ammo.  I am 60 and over 1/2 of my friends have died or are seriously ill.  These days I treat myself pretty well.  Our last son is going to college next year and that's it.  I got the wife and kids taken care of if I croak tomorrow or live to be 90.  My hobbies financially hurt no one.  I picked the wrong time to be buying .308 but you can't win them all.  I have a lifetime supply of 5.56, .30-06, 30 Carbine, and assorted pistol ammo.  I just ordered 2k more Paki from Widener's and that should do it for .308.  I can only shoot one gun at a time.  I remember the days when I would buy ammo one 20 round box at a time.  Those times were good too.  Good health to ya builttoughf250

Midway        3K Winchester  Q3130         $1592.
Natchez       2K Federal       XM762D         $956.
Widener's    7K Paki                              $1771.
44 Mag        20 Mags                              $458.

Now you see why I was in a bit of a hurry to get the M1A

damn! for that price for the Fulton you could have gotten a SAi and a Garand in 308 to feed that ammo to!

That's not a bad price for a in stock Fulton.  It's $70 over the price of the identical Fulton I have had on order for 2 months.  Not bad for a gotta have it now mark up + I am still purchasing the one I have on order when it comes in. Checked the SA and I couldn't find one in stock that wasn't marked up.  A local dealer has SA loaded but with his mark up and 7% sales tax it comes out to be about the same.  As far as the .308 Garand  forget about it  I am not much of a purest on things except the Garand.  Only .30-06 chambered Garands for me.  With the price of ammo from the CMP being what it is there is no upside of a 308 Garand I can see.  I have to say I love it when someone looks at a loaded enbloc and says holy chit.  The .308 make be equal in power but to me bigger means better when it comes to Garand ammo.  To each his own I guess.  Happy shooting Napoleon

When I was 24 my budget wouldn't allow for a 20 round box at times.  Any yes, I do my part to clean out the ammo supply. My philosophy is if you need something & the price is right (the .308 was high but I don't see it coming down) and you don't have to feed it, heat it, cool it, and it has a long shelf life just buy a ton of it and store it.  Luckily I have the room.
As far as you dad goes your on your own.  If he's a shooter he has seen the price of surplus 5.56 just about double in the past year and has to make his own decision.

Edited for spelling:  Went to publik skol.

Thank you.  I am really excited about it.  Haven't felt this good about a rifle purchase in a long time.
