| Is it really necessary that you have to use Torque wrenches to install this mount? or just a handy dandy 3/8 drive ratchet will do the trick. What do you think? Thanks |

The correct torue spec are pretty important with the m14/m1a scope mounts.. That said, they are really important on just about ANY rifle... Most of the screws and bolt for the mount are torqued to INCH pounds.. Going at it with a 3/8" drive ratchet with almost surely over torque the mount.. Unless the directions are calling for torque angle rather than a in/lbs spec... See if you have a friend who will let you use theres.. It only takes 20min or so to install the mount... |
| i have had nothing but problems with my arms base and rings. i have a fulton m1am14 and every other round james against the base of the mount. the brass wont eject and jams. to say that i am a bit pissed is an understatment. almost 300 bucks for rings and a base and it wont function correctly. i would encourage you to look at another mount. i will be selling mine and trying another companies as it takes the fun from shooting when you have to clear a jam every other shot or so. |
Sometimes a USGI extractor will solve that problem. JR |
| The only issue I ever had with my ARMS mount was caused by my placing the rings too near the gap between mount and receiver through which cartridges were ejected. Once the rings were moved to the extreme ends of the mount, the problem was eliminated. Other than that small problem, the mount has served me well, and no complaints.whatsoever. |
| there are only two possible positions to mount the scope, even though the mount has several groves- if you have any standard leupold your stuck either all the way foward or only one notch back. i have tried both and when i tell you the casings get jammed- youhave to remove the scope (nice to have quick release rings) to pull the casing out. so much for reloading the cases that are jammed since they are crushed. |
| I had the same problem with my pet bush rifle project. F marked forged SAI bolt. I noted that the SAI ejector spring was about half the length of a USGI. The USGI ejector spring was MUCH stiffer and harder to install. I replaced the ejector, ejector spring, and extractor for all USGI parts. What was a 20% FTE with the ARMS 18 mount became 100% reliability with almost 1000 rounds so far and nary a hiccup. The stronger ejector spring and perhaps a different angle on the face of the ejector kick those empties quickly clear of the ARMS mount. The extractor has little to do with it other than me wanting a USGI part in such a critical part. |
