Looks great!  I am sure that you will be satisfied with the Aimpoint mounted on your M1A.

I have a similar set-up with my Springfield Armory M1A except I have mounted a EoTech Model 553.  I can get 1.5-inch groups at 100-meters with Federal premium ammunition, you should too.

Let us know how your setup works out at the range!

Thanks man, I figured it was wierd to put on a red dot, on a national match loaded M1a, but I haven't shot at a range further than 200 yards, and I find the aimpoint really comfortable on the eyes as well as aquisition. I'll let you know tomorrow how well it shoots. Thanks again.

AAAAAAAAAAHH, now I know why you got rid of your Shotty.  Dang, you got the M1a bug bad.   But I must say, good choice in optics.  I've never had one but when I've fondled them and compared it to other really good optics, like the eotech, and the tripower, I think it is the best of them all.  Fast and clear.  And I guess them batteries last a long long time.

Congrats.  Nice mount too btw.
Looks good.

Well as excited as I was, I have a good/bad report.

The Aimpoint stock-zero was shooting 3 feet high, luckily it was adjustable enough. I was getting pretty spordaic groupings, but I was also trying to zero in SA surplus in an over-heated barrel. I went through 4 mags only to realize I wasn't even hitting the paper, then another 4 mags to get it where i want. The aim point is performing fine and next time I'll use match grade ammo.

The common ARMS #18 mount problem. Every 3-5 rounds I have a shell jammed between my mount and my bolt. I assume the main issue here is the crappy Springfield extractor, which I  plan on replacing next week but if anyone might have some advice which might help stop it, I'd appreciate it.

I don't know if it's the extractor.  I've heard other people have that same problem with that mount.  It wouldn't hurt to try and swap it, but it might not be the crux of the matter.

Hrm but there are also plenty of people who don't have problems with them, I'd assume it's my extractor since thats usually the crap point of the Springfield M1a's.

Well if you replace it, I guess we'll see, eh?  What concerns me is if it didn't have a problem extracting before the mount, the mount is the only difference as of now.  You could be right though.

I've had 4-5 FTE's over 900 rounds and the extraction overall feels weak. I'll replace the plunger and spring too

I'd get an ejector and spring too.  They should be pretty cheap.

Just ordered a TRW Extractor Clip, Ejector, Spring + Plunger from Orion7

If this doesn't fix the problem, I'll be replacing my arms mount for a Sadlak. Always good to switch to USGI anyways.

I have a Aimpoint M2 I just put on my SOCOM 16 a few weeks ago and can't believe how accurate it is. This is the perfect set-up for the SCOM 16 IMHO d/t the forward mountig rail.

Ah, I got the M3. I wanted an easy optic on my M1a since I won't be getting any other rifles any time soon, I don't want a sniper. I wanted to make my M1a more of an assault-type battle rifle. It's accurate, I'm very comfortable with it as well as shooting it, and I'd trust my life to it if the situation occured.....Well, until I fix this mount problem
