I'm looking at a Springfield Armory M1A and I have a few questions. First off, let me say I really appreciate you guys who know this stuff and take the time to answer.

Question one is the serial #  1018XXx   yes, I did not put the last two numbers - but there is
actually a lower case x at the end, and it is slightly offset like the x to the right.

This is has an 18" barrel.
The op rod is trw
the trigger group is SA
can't tell on the gas system
It does have national match front and rear sights
Question two is the bolt, marked as follows:      7970186
                                                                  HRT  A17
                                                                      BNR

The stock is a USGI fiber glass that has been camo'ed, it is not native to the gun in my estimation.

One other thing  I noticed -  the flash hider assembly is blued, not parked.  The sight itself is parked.  Also the bolt has a definite green shading to the parkerize.

I feel like it probably is a brush gun, the x at the end of the serial gives me pause as well as the blued flash hider.

O.K.   boys - let me have it.    Cure my ignorance.
Thanks
