| Okay, got some trigger time today on a super hot day. Our range now has a 250 and 300 yard markers so I had a chance to try out some longer ranges. As before, a 200 yard offhand shot was not a problem. 250 yard was hard, and I never managed a 300 yard hit. I was scaring 'em, but no hits on the 12" plate. The main issue IMO, is the width of the front blade vs. actually seeing the tiny target. |

Sorry, we just really never get around to shooting groups. Steel plates at 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, and 300 keep us too busy. jjrea - Yes, I can hit a plate at 200 yards pretty consistently (given low wind conditions). It's the stock sights on the Socom II; a wide tritium front blade and a huge rear aperture (compared to the ones I used to have on my M1A "Loaded" rifle). The stock fits me perfectly, cheek falls right in there. And for comparision's sake, I also got to shoot with my old M1A yesterday and yeah, you're hitting the 300 yard plate about half of the time. It was pretty windy. Whenever I post like this I feel the need to say that I'm not some fantastic shooter and I'm certain that there are many here who could do much better in the conditions I shoot. hinking.gif |
