I just got a new book, "Making the Corps" by Thomas Ricks. It's about Marine Corps boot camp, and is pretty good so far. It follows a platoon through Parris Island in the mid 90's, but througout the book Ricks includes some accounts from boot camp of days gone by to show the reader how much it's changed in past decades. So anyways, one of these stories is about three recruits that were called up by the DI in front of the entire platoon while in the barracks, to be punished for their "ineffectiveness." The punishment? He makes them get out their M14s, lock the bolt back, and...you guessed it...makes them put thier dicks into the breech/ejection port area, and then LET THE BOLT FLY FORWARD. Then they had to walk down the entire sqaud bay singing the Marine Corps anthem. After this little horror show was over, they were crying in pain and bleeding really bad. That would really, really suck. |
Going to have to agree 100% here. When I was in Bootcamp in 1989 our Senior DI was relieved of duty with charges pending for shit far less than what was done there. Eventually he was charged and a few Marines (while we were in MCT) had to testify. His issues were mostly Mental abuse but the one that sunk him is we had a shitbird on firewatch one night sneak into the DI hut and take some cookies out of another recruits mail. I was on firewatch next and was odered to fill up a few canteens. The SDI made the guy eat the whole batch of cookies, then made him slam Canteens of water till he got sick. Needles to say it was nasty and the recruit had to clean it up after he was done upchuckin. I never felt any sympathy for the thieveing fuck and told the CO that so I never had to testify. The recruite screamed Racism as the motivator and I think that was what sunk the SDI , He was Hispanic and the recruite was Black. |

In '99, the platoon in the house directly above ours in Second Battalion, Parris Island got one of their Di's in trouble for a whole hell of a lot less than that. He Smoked them in full battle gear, including side-straddle hops on their knees. He lost his hat within weeks. I read the book, and I just don't believe it's true. |
Now the book doesn't say "let the bolts fly forward"it just says they were ordered to close the bolts but it does say however they were ordered to run the lengh of the squad bay singing slammed shut or just closed thats gotta hurt big time!!!! if you want to check it out its on page 90 of the paperback, or just look in the index under m 14 |
You are quite correct, I went back and checked the page and it doesn't explicitly say that the bolts flew forward. Although curiosity got the best of me, so I put my..........................finger ( .....you get the drift....

If true (wink wink), it proves two things....All under the heading of the vast differences between the Army and the Corps... First- that Marines are dumb enough to put their johnsons in the mag well / breech...let alone close the bolt. and Second - that their pleasure rods are small enough to FIT. (That's why the army never did it - we were bigger dicks) All in good jest, so, before you schedule a public stoning for me - my dad was a career marine ('56 - '76) and he never ever related anything even close to that. I did see a Drill Sgt in basic get relieved for trainee abuse though - sadistic MF - broke a guys toes stomping on his bare feet with combat boots. 1SGA |
