Use lots of tape on the front of the receiver (prevent marks if the tool hits the receiver), and punch the roll pin out towards the back (only enought to get the catch out, don't drive the roll pin all the way out of the receiver).

When you get the old catch out, take a steel counter sink and clean up the receiver spring hole for entry burs.

Now tape up the back side of the receiver under the pin, and gently start the pin back threw just enough to allow the catch to start on the pin, The either have someone hold the catch in the needed position or work slowly at driving the pin back threw/ aligning the catch on the roll pin.

Take your time and work slow to prevent marks on the receiver from the punch tool banging off it it.

I use a 1/16 " punch pin and tap it very lightly from front to rear to remove the roll pin.  As discussed above, no need to drive it all the way out.
