Stacking swivels are suppose to be staked, correct? How are they staked? I can seem to figure it out by looking at the rifle.

To use the staking swivel requires 3 Garands interlinked together in a cone shape.

I will see if I can't find a picture.

Here is a link to info.

He means to STAKE the GARAND STACKING swivel in place on the rifle...

I think...

Used with other accuracy tuning for competition.  You merely tighten the screw with the swivel pushed to the forward position.  This keeps the swivel from moving or vibrating or otherwise disturbing your shot.

some have also staked the screw to prevent it from backing out, on the end of the screw were it comes out of the swivel (opposite of the head)

The correct procedure for staking the swivel screw is to support the head on a brass block, and use a dome headed punch and a light hammer to lightly upset the end of the screw.

Would this have been done on my Collector grade?  The screw moves with the stacking swivel if you rotate the stacking swivel.

Factory rifles came staked, and yes the screw will move with the swivel.

Regarding NM'g the swivel, it is pulled and turned around to allow the swivel to snug up against the cylinder, and often loctited in place to keep it from moving (barrel harmonics).
