OK, I am gonna get a M-14 before the year is out. And after reading around here alot of you suggest LRB. I have been to their site and have read about how its a true M-14, but what is the difference between this LRB true M-14 and the $800 cheaper Springfield. Please, any help in understanding why that extra money is worth it besides being Forged(or educate me as to why the forged LRB is better than the springfield).  I have will spend the money for the nicer firearm, I just want to know why.
Thanks in advance.

Well Besides the Forged Reciever, The 22" Chrome Lined Barrel, you will get all USGI Parts with your LRB M14SA.  Chances are that the new SA Inc M1A that you buy are not going to have USGI Parts.

If you do the breakdown, and your going to "upgrade" your SA Inc with USGI Parts here is close to what it is going to cost you.

These are prices that I have seen for some of these parts, and could be low or could be high, either way
USGI Trigger Group....$145.00
USGI Op Rod..............$145.00
USGI Bolt...................$130.00
USGI Gas Cylinder......$125.00

Plus Lou will give you a USGI 20 round Magazine and USGI Nylon Sling with your LRB M14SA
The prices I seen on a new Springfield M1A at a dealers shop was $1600.00 no haggeling

Here are a couple of pics of my LRB M14SA

If you have the money - why would you not get an LRB?

I have to agree with what has been said.  I have an older SA NM that is a fine rifle and 100% USGI, other than the receiver, of course.  However, if I was purchasing a new rifle, it would be LRB all the way.  The SA receivers are investment cast.  LRB's are forged.  Cast receivers are certainly strong enough for the intended purpose, but there is no doubt that a forging is inherently a stronger piece of steel.  If cost is not an issue, go with the LRB.

Plus if you have an issue, dealing with anyone other than LRB (and Fulton Armory, in my option a close second to LRB) might not be pleasant.  Lou or his son Paul are the people who answer the phone when you call with a question or a concern and they love to talk.  Remember SA is a big company who makes all types or guns.  LRB makes two types.  LRB has a five year warranty and Im sure if you called them in ten years he would help you out, considering the issue, thats just Lou's nature.

Thats what I was asking, give me a reason.

To the others that answered, thanks for the info. Is there a long wait for them or do they produce them pretty quickly, how hard are they to get, couple month waiting list?
Thanks agian guys.

I just ordered a barreled action and was quoted 4 weeks to get here. I expect it to be a little sooner than that as they probably give themselves a little margin of error.

LRB is the best there is right now except for a USGI.
