| Sorry if this is a noob question, I have looked throughout this forum for a similar thread. Are there scope mounts for an M1? I realize that the M1C and M1D's have a place to mount because they were meant to have a scope. But can a normal Springfield M1 mount a scope? |
| You can get a mount that replaces the rear sight, www.fulton-armory.com/ has them. |

As noted above, you can buy the mounts from B-Square and others.... That said, most folks find the fact that Garand scope mounts place the scope off-set to the left of the bore ceneterline quite distracting. (only way the scope can set and have the empties properly eject) One might want to consider one of the newer M1 upper handguard "weaver" railed blocks (which may or may not be out yet) and a pistol scope which resembles more of a scout-rifle set-up. At least with this set-up the scope would be "centered" above the bore of the garand. Mike |
| I have the S&K mount on the .308 garand at the moment. Truly an excellent mount. I use a velcro attatched cheek piece with this mount to bring my eye to the correct location and still get a cheek weld. I also have it zeroed 1" left of center. This is parallel to the bore. Now at any distance my shots will be 1" right of point of aim. Works quite well. It is also a reversable process should I choose to put the orginal sight back on. |
