| Hey, I was wondering how you zero the sights once you have the right elevation. Do you take out that screw and the knob comes off and you reset to zero or is there some other way to do it? I have to do this on both my M1 and M1a. |

With the rear sight centered, drift the front side using the front sight allen screw to loosen/tighten the front site into the needed zero position. On the rear windage, click the peep up/down using the elevation knob until the rifle is zeroed for 100 yards. Now loosen the non ejection side flat head screw until it is loose (two turns). Putting pressre against the side of the peep (part you look threw), click the elevation knob until it seats/clicks into the 100 yard mark (with the side screw loose, the knob will move without changing the height of the peep). Now while still holding side pressure on the upper peep portion, tighten the side screw back up until tight (don't worry if the peep clicks down a click, the knob will be moving with the peep, and you should be able to it clicked back down (with the peep) to the correct 100 yard position. To go one step father, tighten the ejection side screw (the one with the open center, ejection side) one click at a time until you can no longer change the windage setting. At this point, turn the screw back one click, and you should be able to change the windage but still have it tight enought that it will not spin at will/recoil. |
