I have a new in box M14/M1A barrel with the following markings. On the barrel; MFR 26978^9345206 10-83 82^72 P On the box; 1005-01-120-4513 Barrel, Rifle Heavy 1 Each DAAA09-82-C-0733 11/84 I need to know twist, # of groves, when made, by who, is it a good barrel. Is it worth $200? Thanks, Phil |
The barrel has the June, 1981 ARDEC drawing number for a medium weight USGI M14 National Match barrel. It is a 1:10 twist four groove chromium-molybdenum alloy steel 22 " barrel. The CAGE Code comes up General Dynamics Armament Systems, Inc. These are the folks that bought out Saco-Lowell from what I understand. The "P" on the barrel means the barrel has been proof fired. The barrel was made in October, 1983. Is it worth $200? Yes IMO if the throat erosion and muzzle wear readings show to be new or close to new, i.e., throat erosion is no more than 1.0. |
Hell yeah! I paid substantially more for a NEW General Dynamics NM medium contour barrel. I'd jump on it. If you pass, please send me the contact information of the seller. |
