Is all polytech m14 preban? Theres some thats stamped on heel and otheres stamped on side of reciever only. I read ones stamped on heel was true preban but most advertise both being preban. I seen a post were guy states preban are marked on side of reciever and not heel of reciever. Whats the truth on these?

I can tell you they are not all preban, but that's it.

I have a PolyTech M14-S that I bought new from SOG (heel stamped) in 1991. Ser# 015XX.

Note---Checked my book today and correct date was Dec 1992.

All Chinese M14 clones were imported before the 94 ban. The question of pre/post ban status depends on it's configuration at the time of the ban.

Noname, did your Polytech have a flash suppressor and a bayonet lug on it when you bought it in 91?

No. It was bobbed and tackwelded to the castle nut. I also checked my book today and I got the rifle in Dec 1992 (not 91---DOH!).

Out of curiosity, what should one expect to pay for a preban Norinco?  TIA.

I wouldn't pay more than 750-800.  They don't command a high price as a preban springfield but they are worth it.  I bought mine for 550.
