I took it out to 1000 yards a few months ago and was able to put a 10 round group into about a 12" gong. Took over 11 mils. My rig is setup for killing critters 300 yards and in at night with the the ability to reach out if needed. The NF 2.5-20 compliments that role perfectly. I'm using factory 129 SST, getting about 2675 FPS at sea level. Have not shot any large game with it in this configuration yet but many people have with good results. I have no doubt it would take deer or hogs a few hundred yards out. Some guys are hand loading the 100 ELD-VT and getting insane velocities out of the shorter barrels. I would do 14.5" again all day. Zero regrets. |

This is a Spanish Mauser dated 1909 converted to 7.62*39 using Cz 527 mags in our Limey 39 chassis, still using some prototype parts so there is a bit of a mash up on the colors. Just to add more oddball stuff, its using a Ruger 77 (.223) extractor and the commie scope. Will probably add a Timney trigger next.
