How about a Bolt Action Picture Thread? (Page 4 of 5)

Wanted a bolt action that used the same ammo and mags as my ARs. My first bolt action in a long time, a Ruger American Predator 223 with a Vortex Strike Eagle 3-18x44 FFP  Liked the RAP some much I got a Ranch 556. Replaced the stock with a Sharps Bros Heatseeker chassis, a Matador Arms Sidewinder folding adapter, Phase 5 mini stock, and assorted AR pieces from my parts box. Added a Primary Arms Slx 3x microprism. Just squeezes into a Bulldog Ultra Compact bag that fits behind the backseat of my truck.

Mannlicher Schoenauer Rifle, Model 52, Made in 1952, 30-06 with a vintage 4x Bushnell scope.  Israeli Mauser 98k in 7.62x51. Imported from Guatemala where it appeared to have been buried in the jungle. The stock was rotted, and the barrel bulged. It has a Redfield receiver sight, xs scout mount with a 2x scope, a Timney trigger, Choate stock and butter knife bolt handle. Kind of like the one above. The barrel was cut at 18”.

I have a love/hate relationship with 308’s. I buy them and then sell them a year later. Here’s my newest, hopefully this one makes it longer than a year. Springfield Waypoint Attached File |

The scope on that rifle was a VX-5HD 2-10x42. My new 308 wears the same scope in 3-15x. |

Just picked up my new toy. CZ 600 Lux in .223 Very nice, very classy.   My only hangup is the sights. They're nice enough, but the rear sight location really leaves alot of unused sight radius on the table. I don't plan on putting glass on this one so time to start picking out a nice rear sight to mount on the receiver. |

Then I ended up selling that set up for a scar 😅 but regardless I did like it. I also hunted with it a few times last year and while heavy it was nice to have. Typically my Ruger American rifle takes deer to my freezer tho 😅 but it’s a sold rifle and yours looks amazing! |

Probably A Bit Much For An American Project of mine I have been putting together for the last year. I just kinda really love shooting bolt action and irons and wanted something enjoyable and utilitarian. I had pretty specific features (basically a modern milsurp) that I could not find on any available factory rifles, so I pieced this together. -Ruger American Predator in 308 -Magpul stock I modded to fill in the sling cutouts and adjust the grip angle to be more comfortable -4 piece flash hider (almost eliminates flash and weight helps balance rifle better) -Polished bolt and replaced cocking piece and firing pin with anarchy outdoors upgrades -Front sight is a 10/22 clamp on base (shimmed with brass and has set screw with a dimple in the barrel to keep it rock steady) with a tech sight tower and blitzkrieg post -Rear sight is a TS100 set into the stock rail, apertures have a 12 MOA difference, and “close range” one is drilled out slightly from .062 to .078 to let a bit more light through -BZO with M80 puts zero at 25 and 210, with a 2.5” max deviation out to 250.long range aperture hits at 400, but I need to confirm that Kinda ridiculous to put this much effort into this rifle, but it’s been fun. Now I have something I truly love shooting.

Thanks, I used JB Weld - Water Weld to build it up and it worked really well, figured there was not much risk in trying and it ended up being great to nail down exactly what I wanted. The original angle is odd to me from a function and looks standpoint. |
