Anyone have any experience with the solvent traps at www.roninpro.com? I see they've updated their site with newer designed cups, end caps, stainless cup options and other options as well. Looks like a turn key kit for a Form 1 ... correct me if I'm wrong.
I've searched around and can't find anything in the way of reviews. I emailed them with a couple questions and they replied almost instantly. |

I have a cap ordered right now, as soon as it's here I'll pop a couple pics.
I also wish it was titanium, but DM is soo back logged right now and I needed a decent cap to finish a build. I ordered the 1.5" threaded tube adaptor in "plug" style. It comes center marked only and should make a nice end cap. |

I've got an apogee Ti tube, what tube are you using? Let me know how it fits. |

It appears you guys are piecing yours together from multiple companies. Are you guys cutting your own spacer so that it all fits snug?
I don't have access to a lathe and would prefer to not have to go pay a machinist to get proper fitment if at all possible. That's why I was looking at RoninPro. They sell turn key kits. Are there other places that sell good, if not better, turn key kits? Most companies I've seen are only selling tubes, end caps and adapters. |

Not so much if you're looking for titanium or stainless. |

Well, Ronin makes a nice cap. Not exactly what I was looking for but it will definitely fit and work as expected. Until DM gets inventory up it will definitely do me. http://i376.photobucket.com/albums/oo201/cyclicm16/IMAG07751_zps4iefb90q.jpg http://i376.photobucket.com/albums/oo201/cyclicm16/IMAG07731_zpsd96hqwxp.jpg I wonder if the gen 2 caps would leave too much of a gap between the OD and the ID of the Ti tube? How much O-ring compression do you get with the Ti tube? |
|
D cell Maglite threads, any standard d size solvent trap can use Ronin caps. Ronin refers to this size as the "1.5 inch". Not a fan of aluminum tubes for anything other than pistol and 22lr, but the aluminum caps and the stainless stack should do other tubes nicely. Though I'm not positive on the stack sizing, would need measuring to verify tube fit.

The muzzle adapter is SS and came with a nice black finish. The gen2 end cap is anodized aluminum. They also put a wrench for free

What is the OD of the outermost flange? |

I bought the 'solvent cups' and used them in a SDTA tube fits great. Haven't gotten around to shooting her yet. Currently building a 300BLK upper to mount it on. "D" tube? Ill be waiting for the shorter ronin kits to come out and I'm definitely going to try them out. |
| Just ordered a Gen 2 9" rifle kit with SS guts for an approved Form that I have been sitting on for a little while. Will use this kit for a dedicated subsonic only 300 Blackout suppressor. Right now I am using a YHM Stainless Phantom QD suppressor and that thing is heavy. |
|
Just ordered a 9" kit with both SS/AL combo. They contacted me the following morning offering a FREE upgrade to all SS otherwise I 'might' have a short wait due to high demand. I opted to upgrade. Their email was VERY polite, lengthy and informative. They strike me as a company that is on its way up and I look forward to see their new offerings in the near future.
I was going to get one with a stainless blast chamber with aluminum cups to save weight and I was going to anodize the aluminum cups myself. Well I guess I don't have to worry about anodizing now |
https://youtu.be/iHAZAZ8b09M They have shortened the length, used a new baffle design with a stainless spacer and blast baffle, introduced a 7075 tube, and a redesigned end cap.

Forgive me is this has been covered..... How would one go about putting this on a form 1? Engrave the serial number first? Fill out and file your form 1 with what ever number, caliber and model you want. Wait for the approved form to come back and then engrave away. As long as you don't drill out the cups and end cap, it is just a bunch of machined parts in a box.. |

Depends on the caliber. Tons of rimfire and pistol cans out there with aluminum baffles. Quoted:

What are the thoughts on aluminium cups longevity versus SS beyond the first blast cup? Depends on the caliber. Tons of rimfire and pistol cans out there with aluminum baffles. Gotcha. |

There are people that say you should wait for approval before buying the solvent trap, kit or parts.
One post I saw said exactly this: 18 U.S.C., ยง 921(A)(24) states that all parts of a suppressor or that can be used with and/or for use and attachment of a suppressor are regulated under this. Also, all parts stated/defined listed fall under and are subject to the National Firearms Act of 1934. I am not sure if this is true or not. That doesn't make any sense to me. That would mean that IF anyone was waiting for approval, was in the market for a flash hider or brake/comp and bought one for QD suppressors or even threaded ... they could potentially be a felon ! ? ! ? BS! |

EVERY ITEM on their site is 'Sold Out.' Are they still in business? Will e-mail and call them. They are, they emailed me on an order I had placed September 1 today stating they aren't offering the full stainless steel cups anymore. ETA: Changed to the stainless/aluminum kit and the CS rep said it will ship out this week. |
