I haven't built it yet (waiting on DM to start taking new orders again) but I have approval of a 7" 556 can that will use 60 degree cones that are slip fit, making the thing user cleanable and easy to disassemble. Question: would shooting 22lr out of it result in so much fouling that it'd be a total pita to clean / take apart? I've heard LR makes cans really dirty. I'd rather not get a second can just for 22... But I will if its functionally required. What says the F1 collective?
If it matters I'm a former Marine 0311 and clean the heck out of guns after every range trip...

| You should be good. Commercial cans are sealed which presents a cleaning problem. The "dip" (50/50 mix of hydrogen peroxide and white vinegar) that is more popular on the forums is know known to other silencer owners. Other things are the larger can like you mention would be difficult to use on most 22lr hosts, but would probably work good on a AR 22lr platform where the sights are higher. On a pistol or most other 22lr rifles the can is too big to use. |

I'm OK with the sights being blocked by the body of the can...my Octane does that with my Glock 34 SBR as well. No big deal if both eyes are open. Anyway, I do appreciate the input! I've always thought 22 cans were a little silly unless you needed something ultra-light or short. The gun budget is, unfortunately, limited, so not making a 22LR can allows me to buy other cool NFA stuff I want pre-41F... I'll have the try the vinegar/hp solution. I have an ultrasonic cleaner as well. |
