I just bought one at Academy tonight. I wanted it for shooting snakes and squirrels in my back yard. Am I going to be happy or should I have bought the Gamo 1250? Any other one that you guys recommend? Apparently this thing can be modded somewhat. I just want something that is accurate and fun to shoot.

The main thing I would be concerned with is,
does it do the job at the range that you require and can it put a pellet into the size of the target that you are aiming at?

Is it more accurate than your skills are capable of?

If it was a $20 dollar air gun and on sale, as long as I could hit with it what I was capable of at the ranges I knew that were familiar, I would be happy & buy it.

They shoot great and have decent power. A Williams peep sight is a nice addition. If you shoot it a lot pumping gets old after a while.

It's far better than any Gamo 1250 break barrel and with no recoil.
I removed a spring from the trigger to lighten it and it does very well.
As far as pumping goes, 8 pumps tops is recomended and it will hold until you need it.
If your a good shot, that's all you'll need.
There not built for attaching good scope mounts though but here's one that works.

Can you tell me more about the trigger spring removal?

I predict that in 25 years, you'll still have the Benjamin and still like shooting it.

I'm partial to the Benjamin/Sheridan guns (mostly the older ones)

My dad has a 392 from around the early 2000s, he really likes it.

He plays with that one, and his gammo shotgun, it has an adapter to shoot .22pellets from the smothbore barre.

392 is a good one, much nicer than a Gamo 1250 in any flavor.

With a little trigger work, cleaning the paint over spray out of the muzzle/chamber and maybe a touch up on the crown will give you a real nice hunting shooter.

With the above work mine will shoot just about any dome pellet under 2" at 25yds and most are closer to 1 inch, my "magic" pellet has been H&N 14.66gr FTT's in 5.53 head size(head size is VERY IMPORTANT!!!), easily half inch groups at 25yds and when the stars align just right I've shot one ragged hole 5 shot groups using the FTT's

Enjoy your new rifle!

John
