Anyone mount one of these yet on the standard GSR rail? Wanted to scope the one and thinking hard on this verses using the long rail and traditional scope which would have to go over the rear sight and may be to high?

Keep it true to form and run it in the scout location.

You will thanks us later.

Cool, no issues with adequate eye relief? I do wish it was lighter though. My guess is low or medium Leupold QRW rings?

I use the low QRW rings with my scout scope. No problems at all.

I'm running the 2.5 IER, sorry I misread. You might want to look at the mediums then. I have a couple of millimeters of clearance with the objective.

You might also want to head over to the scout rifle forum. A number of guys there have run the scope that you're planning so you might be able to find out what they're using.

Didn't seem like the warm and fuzzies on it over there. Dang, I might get it and use it on the 45-70 if I don't like it. Having never used a scout style scope, do you pick up the scope just as quick when mounting the gun? (as compared to a standard scope) This time of year, I might wait to see if there's new offferings from whoever before I spend the money, maybe SHOT will tell?

For close range, it's fast as hell. Very intuitive. I used my FX-II 2.5x to head-shoot a doe at 75 yards this season. I recommend that model quite highly. Something a little higher magnification may be nice shooting from a rest, but I prefer to stalk and the 2.5x is perfect for snap shots through brush.

I have that scope on mine and like it.  I mounted mine on one of the XS rails on my GSR.  The eye relief is a shorter than one of the fixed 2.5X Leupolds.  My eye relief is perfect when mounted more to the back.
It fits perfectly right in front of the back sight with an 1/8" gap.  I used the lowest Leupold QRW rings that would fit and the cheek weld is great, just like using the open sights, and the QRW rigns let me pop the scope off should I ever actually need to use my iron sights.
When the scope is on 1.5X I can see the front sight in the sight pictures but it doesn't get in the way.  When the magnification is raised, the sight disappears.  I never even pay attention to the rear sight as the XS sight built into the rail is just a lolipop which is not near as large as the ruger factory rear sight assembly.  My opinion, I wouldn't like a scope mounted to high when using a scout type scope.
I personally love the quick targeting of the scout scope.
I do like the higher mag of a traditional mounted scope and have switched to one for a little while then reminded my self that the whole point of a scout rifle is to have a scout scope.

The XS rails are cheaper than when I got mine, only $81 on Brownells now.
And not trying to sell you on a XS rail, but with the XS rail you can mount a scout scope and/or a traditional scope and still have the rear sight.
Not too hard to mount a traditional scope over the XS rail rear lolipop but you can't have the ruger rear sight assemblly and mount a traditional scope unless you used some extreme rear cantilever type scope mount that would cost more than an XS rail.

After all that, I do recommend the Leupold 1.5-5X scope on a XS rail.  I do love the lower 1.5X and the higher 5X over a fixed 2.5X scope.
The red dot feature of this scope is great in low light too!!

Here is my set up with it.

I went over the options and I will go with the XS/1.5-5 combo. Did you use the low rings? You stated   "used the lowest Leupold QRW rings that would fit" Not sure if that could be the mediums?
5 power on this is fine with me, the furthest I can shoot currently hunting wise is 350-400. Realyy don't or would want to go further anyhow.
Thanks!

Sorry for my delay,  was out of town.  I emasured my rings and they are the Leupold low 30m QRW rings.  They raise the scope tube  0.24" from the rail.

Here is a photo showing some up close of the scope mounted.
You can see the back up sight, which i haven't totally sighted in yet, so if it needs to go up a little it still will not beein the way.

Thanks for the pics! I have one spacer in, any issues with eye relief, w/o craning my head forward?

I too have one spacer.  Eye relief is just right for me.  On 5X my eye relief has a small window for perfect viewing but fits me perfectly with normal checkweld.  At lower magnification eye relief is very forgiving.
1.5X is amazing with very fast targeting due to the huge field of view.  I always keep both eyes open when using a scope anyway so using 1.5X is extremely natural feeling to me.
