One of these days I'm going to pick up a Ruger GSR but I can't decide between the blued or stainless version? I prefer the look of the blued rifles but I like the benefits of stainless. So my choice is really between getting the blued model or getting the SS model and Cerakoting it?

When I get one, I'm going stainless but only because it will have the 18" barrel.

Go stainless! Less worries about rust and environmental wear, looks cooler, worth more. If it turns into a SHTF situation there is always spray paint.

This is my thought as well. YMMV, though.

I have to tell you, I almost didn't post this question because it seemed kind of dumb but now I'm glad I did. I completely missed the fact that there was a barrel length difference between the 2. Now that I know that, I'm definitely leaning towards the SS model and either dealing with the appearance or having it coated. Thanks guys

I bought one of the first available.  It's a really sweet rifle, but would trade in an instant for an 18"barrel instead of  a flash hider.

What is the deal with that. Looking at Ruger's site, they show the SS GSR's with a FH but a google image search shows some with and some without a FH. The ones without do not appear to be threaded?

If memory serves, the non-FH model is an export-only version; all the domestic-sale models have the FH and threaded muzzle.

I believe you can get Stainless in 18" or 16.5".  Ruger doesn't show it on ther website but Ruger item 6801 is Stainless with a 16.5" barrel, threaded with flash hider just like the standard blued one.  Several on gunbroker right now.  The 18" version is model 6822 also a few on gunbroker for about $100 more.
